Skiing to our camping site by the ice caves in Craters of the Moon National Monument in Idaho. We took out our ski pulk that we made ourselves just a few days ago. It works!

We are headed out to do our first snow camping experience on skis. One of my dreams was to XC ski in Craters of the Moon National Monument in Idaho, and here we are!!!! They had a ton of snow covering the lava fields!

Merry Christmas! Making camp in a field covered by snow just north of Wells, Nevada on some BLM land! We needed somewhere to camp and this place was just off the road (Hwy 93) and flat and clear of vegetation. It snowed overnight and was pretty windy!

Today I am posting a video instead of a picture! This is a funny video clip of me falling down (in slo-mo) on my back country XC skis when I hit a bunch of ruts dug into the snow by snowmobiles. We found a hill near Spooner summit in Nevada in the National Forest.

Today we went XC skiing at TahoeXC, near Tahoe City, CA. I'm sipping on some hot cocoa at the warming hut.

This is us on Treasure Island. Weird place, kind of half abandoned yet with people living on it. It was cool to see the bay bridge from a different perspective.

Today we saw TRON in the Emeryville movie theater in Imax and 3D. It was awesome!

Here we are sitting in the movie theater about to see TRON the new movie in 3D! We have the 3D glasses on. The 3D was soooooooo cool! It was better than real life 3D. Everything popped out at you!

The power went out this evening (don't know why, although it was kind of windy outside) so we busted out the candles so we could have light!

One of the only things that made me really smile today was getting to ride on the big green coach bus across the bay to San Francisco for the last day of the AGU conference. I've been pretty bummed out all week because of this cold. But then at the end of the conference, I was pretty happy because some people referred to my research at the methane hydrates session the day after I presented! It felt awesome!

Getting some juice from the fridge. We are both sick with colds, so we need vitamin C.

Today I gave my talk at AGU and I thought Romy would take a picture, but he didn't, because he said he was nervous for me and totally forgot! Oh well, he took a picture of me sneezing at home because I am really sick now with a bad cold. I had to take some medicine today so that I wouldn't sneeze or cough while I was behind the podium!

Today I got to ride a transbay (O line) bendy-bus to San Francisco! The kind that is like two buses put together and in the middle it pivots. It was so funny to sit inside the bus and watch it bend! It was soooooo long!

Standing on the staircase, so you can see all the people at the conference! This is only one of the floors (its on 3 floors in 2 buildings). Its huge! I am getting nervous. I give my talk on Thursday!
