This afternoon we went biking to Jack London Square and Port of Oakland, at Middle Harbor Shoreline Park. I am spying on San Francisco.

Today Romy installed the amp and sub in the Subaru! We took it on a test drive to set the dials on the amp.

Ok, so we decided to just keep our camping party rolling tonight, and even though we were totally within driving distance of home on Sunday night, we camping outside of Portola, CA anyways!!!! Yay! It's sunset.

Today we made it to Smith Creek Hot Springs in Nevada for some camping and soaking and relaxing!!!!

This morning we checked out Split Mountain in Dinosaur National Monument. The Green River cut down the mountain in half!

Spontaneously, we called the Ashley National Forest to see if they had any yurts for rent tonight. We were able to stay at the Grizzly Ridge Yurt at 9,200 ft in the Uinta Mountains of Utah, north of Vernal. IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!! I love yurts!!!!!

Had to go to the state run liquor store to get some "normal" micro-brewed beer. We got all kinds of mix and match beers from breweries around the state of Utah. I felt like we were doing something wrong. The Mormons really make you feel sleezy for buying beer.

Today we drove the Subaru up Mt. Evans, which is at 14,130 ft, and just a short drive from Golden. It is 20 ft higher than Pike's Peak (making the Mt Evans Scenic Byway the highest paved auto road in North America - woah!!!!), which we drove on January 7th, 2011 with the Daewoo.

Continuing the drive today from Utah into Golden, Colorado. Its so nice to be on a break!

What a drive today. From Oakland, CA to the Rocky Mountains in Utah, southeast of Salt Lake City. We found an awesome camping spot in the birch trees. Jenn drove the Subaru into a berm of dirt! Haha!

We are beginning our drive to Colorado for a workshop I am attending at the Colorado School of Mines this Monday and Tuesday.

Carmen taught me how to cook spicy (red thai chilis) grilled pineapple with rice. I am making it for dinner tonight.

Romy has spent the last two days recovering from surgery and relaxing. He is surfing the internet a lot!! He found an online game called QWOP. Hhehehehe.

Today I accepted a postdoc position at the Desert Research Institute in Reno, NV. I will start in January. We will be moving to Reno in a few months!!! Yay!

Today Romy's appendix was removed with a laser! Here he is after surgery, making a face at me. The surgery took less than 2 hours, and he was out of the hospital by 3pm.

We stayed at my boss's house to take care of his dog Bailey tonight.

Today we went to go see the little chickens that Nicole and Marcel got. They will build a chicken coop soon.

On the way home from Yerington, we took a tiny road through the ranches in the gold country (Hwy 120 was jammed).

The transmission busted at mile 43 of our second lap during the Yerington 300 race in Nevada. We went to rescue Heston and Toby.

I bought my mom a Berkeley sweatshirt before she left back home to Chicago.

Today we took a drive to the Tomales Bay and had fresh oysters at Hog Island in Marshall, CA. They were sooooooo good and the weather was perfect!

Romy graduated today with a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley. He is somewhere in the crowd down there.

We found seats up at the top of the Greek Theater to watch Romy's graduation!

We went to Lagunitas brewery in Petaluma today to celebrate our last working day at Dominican!

We made fondue for dinner tonight. We ate it all! Potatoes with paprika were good for dipping.

We took a drive down Pack Saddle Rd between Hwy 50 and Hwy 88 to have a long picnic lunch. It was nice and we had a great view.

Romy is in the shadows. We got the engine running and its being broken in! Yay!

Today we are in Placerville at Heston's place swapping engines in the Dingo.

I got my haircut! Finally! I got it cut at Jim's Hair Salon in Hayward near the Buggy House.

We stopped at the Buggy House in Hayward, to return and buy some parts for the Dingo engine. We will be racing it in a few weeks!

Inspired by Nicole's crazy juice fast, we tried making a "meanie greenie", with kale, celery, green apples, carrots, lemon, cucumber, and ginger. It was ok.

The poor Subaru is in the auto body shop getting fixed, and they gave us a free rental car. It's a Mazda 3 and it blows!!!! We are thinking of returning it and getting a Hyundai instead, that's how bad it is!

Today we went to Martinez to buy an industrial sewing machine for soooo cheap! Its working and I am sewing again :)

I am starting to replace the clear plastic windows in the yurt with screen/mesh inserts so we can have some ventilation!

Working on the engine today, trying to get it done before the Yerington race on Memorial Day weekend.
