Last week teaching at Dominican. . . . forever!!! I can't believe it went by so fast! P.S. - Three years ago today was the first foto of the day! I can't believe it's been three years of taking pictures so far!

Today we had a BBQ in the backyard, the day after we sold our patio set! We made torched caramelized banana splits with chocolate frozen yogurt for dessert! Romy's torching the bananas!

I just cleaned this vanagon seat and now I am taking a break, sitting on it, and drinking my kambucha. I saw two crows fight a red tailed hawk today in our neighbor's redwood tree! California. . .

We drove over to Bob's place where he is getting rid of a lot of VW parts. We just inherited 4 or 5 bins full of VW parts! Where the heck to put it all. . .

We just bought our graduation gowns from the Cal bookstore! We figured out we can share the PhD hood and tam (a hat), saving us almost $100! We took this picture in front of Sather Gate on campus.

This week has been so hectic that we haven't been able to go grocery shopping, forcing us to eat lunch out again (oh no how horrible!). We love this place, called Urban Turban, just north of the Berkeley campus. Mmmmmm.

We had lunch at Miller Knox park on our way to Dominican. We had Subway and the ducks tried to steal our food! They were so funny!

Today I officially accepted the fellowship I'll be getting for my last semester at UC Berkeley. I am a UC Dissertation-Year Fellow!

Romy

Yesterday Romy got his PICC line taken out. There is all 46 cm of it, and it used to go up his arm and into his heart through that red dot in his bicep! The nurse pulled it out so fast. Ewwww it was gross!

Today I got notification that I will be receiving a University of California Dissertation Year Fellowship, which will fund me for my last semester while I am writing my PhD thesis!!!!

Today we were supposed to be racing with the Dingos at Prairie City, but Romy had to see a nurse to get his PICC line out. Instead, we went to San Francisco to see the Bay Bridge Lights!

Romy and I had a good time building the engine today. After this picture we sealed the case halves and torqued all the bolts! I am master Permatexer.

Romy looks really into it, I look happy, and Marcel looks pissed! I think we all had fun playing pinball tonight! Romy was pinball wizard with a high score for 7.9 MILLION on Dr. Dude!!!! Damn!!!

Today we went exploring on Heness Pass Rd (the first pass over the Sierra Nevada mountains) which is today just a dirt forest road, and relaxed near Verdi Springs. Then we got "dunch" (lunch-dinner) on the back porch of the Delta Saloon in the old historic mining town Virginia City, NV, with the 100 mile view!

Two years ago this day (link) I passed my oral qualifying exam at Berkeley. Today I had my first job interview at the Desert Research Institute in Reno, NV and I am soooo happy to say that it went well and everyone there was super nice, interested, and welcoming. Now I am eager to hear back to see what will happen! This is a picture of Romy and I happy that the interview is over and enjoying the sunset over the Sierra Nevada mountains from the 8th floor of the parking garage.

We finally arrived at the Eldorado in Reno, where DRI is lodging us for the next three nights while I have my interview for a post-doc position in renewable energy research! Ahhhhhh! I am soooo excited!!!!

Jenn and I went to the Pacific Pinball Museum in Alameda today. They had so many old (and new) pinball machines, and it was all you can play! It was cool!

Going to Dominican to teach physics this week. This is the only thing Romy has to get out of the house for while recovering (he works on Berkeley stuff at home).

Today we made coconut milk, mango, and honey smoothies in our VitaMix! They were good.
