We had heard from a friend that there was a gray whale up in Redwood NP where the Klamath river crosses US 101, so we felt we had to check it out. That's the whale (a 45 ft female) behind me. She apparently showed up in late June with her calf in tow during the migration from Baja California to Alaska, and the calf has moved on without her.
