We just crushed some hazelnuts with a hammer in a baggy to top our first loaf of gluten free bread that we're baking.

I just came back from the dentist. I have a new crown on my front tooth! Yay!

Romy

Ahhhhh. Back to school on the H-Line bus.

Jenn

I am making some gluten free muffins today, and greasing the muffin pans, and dusting them with sorghum flour.

Jenn

Finally done with the hike through the Hoover Wilderness. We both went in strong, and we walked out gimpy. My legs hurt, my achilles tendons hurt bad, and I was all sore in my shoulders. Romy got some blisters and had crazy bruised hips! But we made it and we will heal.

We hiked from Buckeye all the way to Peeler Lake in the Hoover Wilderness. This is the lake just after sunrise. It is so clear and blue.

I am hiking along the Buckeye Trail in the Hoover Wilderness and there are HUGE mountains on both sides!

Romy

Washing out my "feet of mud" which got really muddy on the Buckeye Trail. We are doing an overnight backpacking trip through the Hoover Wilderness in the Sierra Nevadas.

We finally got to our camping spot at Buckeye Hot Springs, near Bridgeport, CA on the eastern Sierra. What a long drive, and we are ready for a dip! We took Hwy 108, Sonora Pass.

Today I am making our first real batch of almond milk. I say real, because I now have the proper strainer, a fine-mesh nylon bag. Almond milk is much healthier than cow's milk and it tastes better too!

We took a walk today near Bort Meadow before sunset.

I am working in the garage on making the Harbor Freight plannishing hammer better.

The herbs are doing really well, and today its sooooo hot! Look at the temperature! Sooooo hot today!

Finally done with the bookshelf!!!! The corner is done!

Today we had a BBQ in the backyard. We made kabobs with chicken and shrimp. Julie visited for a few days on her way to Colorado.

Almost done now with the shelving! Just the corner shelf to go. Yay!

The second door panel for the baja is done now.

Jenn

Today I finished making the doors, and putting them on the hinges. I also covered two of the doors with fabric and they are finished (except for a door knob or something). I am growing an herb garden on top. I have stevia, basil, and peppermint.

We still have the seats that are going into the baja in our living room! And Jenn is possibly going to buy the orange road bike behind me if it fits her. Its really light.

Today I made lots of progress on the new custom shelving I am building for the dining room. You can see it in the background. I am happy that it all going together (kinda) smoothly.

Romy came to get me at my new office, and he is standing in the other side of it.

We had heard from a friend that there was a gray whale up in Redwood NP where the Klamath river crosses US 101, so we felt we had to check it out.  That's the whale (a 45 ft female) behind me.  She apparently showed up in late June with her calf in tow during the migration from Baja California to Alaska, and the calf has moved on without her.

Swimming in an alpine lake in the Trinity Alps along with some of Jenn's fellow EPS students.  It's not actually Lake Eleanor, but I couldn't find this one on the map.

We got a new living room! Just kidding, this is at ikea. Jenn wanted to get a new cabinet/bookcase so we spent (wasted) a lot of time looking around ikea. Then we built our own.

Jenn, Nicole, Marcel, Marcel, and I went to the MUSE concert to see Crosby, Stills, & Nash, and the Doobie Brothers (among others). We didn't realize beforehand that it was an anti-nuclear power/weapons concert, but oh well. So some songs were good, and others were preachy and not so good.

Today I bought an EBMUD trail pass finally, and we took a long walk around one of the reservoirs.

Shopping at Farmer Joes's with Marcel and Marcel (Marcel's cousin from Germany). I got these shoes at the thrift store for 99 cents! They are plastic.

After the big VW group photo by the Golden Gate Bridge, we caravaned with the Treffen Cruisers to Mike Merril's private VW collection in Mountain View, CA.

Today the VW Treffen 2011 Cruise came through San Francisco, on their way to LA, so we joined the caravan at Fort Baker. There were about 50 VW's!

Me and my office mates on the 5th floor balcony. Today was the last day that all of us were together in the office at Berkeley. We are all moving offices, each to different rooms.

I am ripping off the fabric from the old cardboard door panels from a bug we found in the junkyard a while ago.

Jenn

I am working on stapling the fabric onto the new door panels for the baja. We found the fabric at the junk yard.
