Today we rearranged our living room to make room for the elliptical machine that Joanne gave us from Colorado. We've had it for a couple weeks, but we forgot a crucial piece in the trunk of the XTerra, so Joanne had to mail it to us!
This is an astronaut suit at the Chabot Space & Science Center in Oakland. The planetarium has three large telescopes for public viewing on Friday and Saturday nights, but it was cloudy tonight (for the past two weeks no clouds, but tonight clouds)!
Today we went to the Chabot Space & Science Center, which is a small planetarium up the hill from us in Oakland. I am putting on a fake astronaut helmet thing.
I'm on the bus ride up the hill with my cup of tea. I accidentally made a two tea bag cup earlier, so steeped another cup for the ride home. There was an awesome sunset today also, which is kind of visible through the windows behind me.
We went for a walk in Briones Regional Park and took a break at the top of a hill after the climb up. It was a nice and warm day; a good day for a walk followed by some watching of football. It turned into a lazy Sunday!
Today another sign was posted at the Space Science Lab about another mountain lion sighting. This time it said the lion was sighted at about 8am a few days before and animal carcasses have also been found in the hills above the laboratory buildings! Cool! I happened to be wearing my puma sweatshirt!
Joanne gave us an elliptical machine that she wasn't using anymore, but we forgot to take the linkage bar out of the trunk before Alyx and Chris left back to Colorado! So now we need to wait until the part gets shipped to us. The elliptical will go in N&M's apartment.
We've been spending the past few days in the storage spot stripping out John's bus. The engine started up right away before Romy took it out, so we will put it in our bus. The transmission looks good too.
This is a funny picture of me setting an alarm on my phone at a motel in Carson City, NV. We went with Alyx, Chris, and my dad to the Travertine Hot Springs before they drove back home to Colorado.
The day we got back to California, we dropped off John's bus at a storage spot in Alameda, and then we went to San Francisco to the Haight & Ashbury neighborhood to get beer with Alyx and Chris at a microbrewery and meet up with one of Alyx's friends who moved nearby. This is a blurry picture of me in front of the bar.
The first night while towing John's bus to Cali, we stopped in Gallup, NM at the El Ranchero Hotel where a lot of old movie stars stayed while filming old western movies in the area.
Getting our food at Casa Bonita, the one that was made fun of on South Park. The place was just epic and we had an awesome time! Cliff divers, magicians, caves, gun fights, and second rate Mexican food. Alyssa is giving a peace sign behind me.
Today we took a trip to Colorado Springs and visited Garden of the Gods and thought that maybe we would go up Pike's Peak on the cog railroad. But the cog train wasn't running, however, the road to the top was open to the summit!! The Daewoo made it all the way to 14,110 feet! It was so clear and we saw all the snow covered mountains!
Later this afternoon, we went on the Coors Brewery tour in Golden, CO. It was a lot of fun and at the end, you can try 3 beers in the Coors Lounge. I am standing over the large copper brewing kettles (there are 50 of them).
We got to Golden, CO to visit Romy's relatives yesterday but forgot to take a picture. This afternoon we went to visit the Celestial Seasonings factory in Boulder, CO where they make all the tea. We couldn't take a picture inside the factory, but we did in the gift shop, where you can buy all the varieties of tea they make.
I like this picture because you can see how much snow is on the roof of the Snow Survey Cabin and which direction the wind is normally blowing from. We just got back from skiing around the cabin through the forest.
I look so fat in the picture but really I am just wearing a lot of layers ;-) to stay warm while we went skiing around the cabin (Snow Survey Cabin, Wyoming). I am standing next to the road sign but the road is now under about 5 feet of snow!
Spending the second evening relaxing and doing puzzles from a Penny puzzles book we got at the grocery store (Snow Survey Cabin, Wyoming). You can see the snow outside of the window. That's how deep the snow is! We are comfy and warm inside.
This is what the outside of the Snow Survey Cabin (Wyoming) looks like. It is surrounded by deep snow which is almost covering the windows! We just got back from snow shoeing around the cabin.
Doing puzzles in the evening inside the Snow Survey Cabin. We rented it from the NF for $50 a night, and had to ski one mile to the cabin (very similar to the previous cabin).
Today we made it to the Snow Survey Cabin in the Medicine Bow National Forest in south-central Wyoming. There is so much snow here! I forgot why I was standing on the chair (I think the floor of the cabin was really cold while it was still warming up after turning on the furnace).
