Today we took a walk in Chabot Regional Park near Bort Meadow in the evening. Everything was really dry and they cut down some of the grass. It was almost unrecognizable from what it looks like in the spring!
I spent almost all day making three fabric panel pieces of art. The one behind me is probably my favorite, although it didn't come out perfect. Oh well! I think its cool anyway!
Today I went to IKEA and JoAnn Fabrics to buy fabric for my new Etsy online shop - making fabric wall panels! Hopefully it will work out. If not, half the fabric I got was really cheap ($0.99-$3.49/yd), and the other half was IKEA price ($7.99-$8.99/yd), which isn't too bad.
My face is shiny because its sooo hot again! I am showing off the purse I sewed last night, but I'm not sure if I really like it yet. I think I might make a better one soon.
I look a little pissed and tired because I got lost trying to find the Paramount Theater in Oakland, so I ended up walking around the entire Lake Merritt, probably 5 miles, on the hottest day of the year! It was 90 degrees!
Kinda cheating, but the pic I took of me for this day didn't come out good. This is the cabin I stayed at last night called Kamtjønnkoia. It was about a 2.5hr drive to the trailhead, and another 3hr hike up to it. It snowed over night, but was a lot of fun!
We hiked up to Sentinel Dome near Glacier Point in Yosemite National Park and had an awesome view of the high Sierra, all the way to the crest, and we saw the skinny view of Half Dome!!
There was a fire restriction in Stanislaus National Forest, so we gathered around the Deitz lamp instead. There was a freaky red fairy flying over our heads! We set up the camera on Julie's tripod and took a long exposure shot.
Camping out on Hitra near Ansnes. We just kind of pulled off and set up the tent in some field. In Norway, this is allowed and is called allemannsrett, ie All man's right. Super bonus. We got there kind of late though, so didn't see much else except the drive there (which was amazing).
Today we went orienteering in the regional park next to Trondheim called Bymark. It was a lot of fun and the park was filled with wild blueberries and raspberries. I think we did more eating than orienteering! Sintef and a few other companies do this twice a week as apparently orienteering is a big thing in Norway.
Sitting at my desk, working on my CV. It was really sunny and warm today. I think I forgot to shut the window before I left, but it was only cracked open a little.
Near the summit of Mt Tallac (9,700 ft), the tallest mountain at Lake Tahoe. The hike was strenuous with an elevation gain of 3,300ft and a total round trip of just under 10 miles. What a great view!!!
Coming back down the mountain on our group hike up to Velma Lake in the Desolation Wilderness (Eldorado National Forest) at Lake Tahoe. We hiked a little over 10 miles with a 2,000ft elevation gain to an alpine lake. When we got to it, we went swimming!
Arriving at Lake Tahoe with the EPS grad student group. We went swimming our first day. The water was pretty cold but it was so hot outside! We camped at Sugar Pine Point State Park on the California side.
I'm standing in front of the Hovedbygget, which means something like the main building or home building. It's the original building for the NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology) and is right next to the building I'm working in for the SINTEF project.
Today I brought all the camping stuff with me to school for the EPS grad student camping trip to Lake Tahoe! It was really foggy in the morning where I parked the car. So foggy I had to turn on my lights so other cars would see me!
I'm standing in the cemetery area of the Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim. It's an old church, but has apparently changed a lot since it was first built - look at the link above.
Me in the Sintef office in Trondheim. This is actually not the desk I'll be using in a few days, but whatever. It has an electric motor that allows it to pan up and down...sweet.
